Purpose To Pain

November 30, 2015

Sometimes God allows us to go through difficult things- pain, trouble, heartache, disease- not because of sin or to make us suffer but to increase our level of empathy! Sometimes we go through so He can soften our hearts so it bleeds like His. It's hard for us to hurt for others in places where we have NEVER been broken. Think about it...even in society-how many charitable organizations were birthed out of someone else's INTENSE PAIN OR MISFORTUNE OR TRAGEDY??? Someone had to suffer, someone had to die, someone had to become fatally ill in order to bring attention to the PAIN--the problem--the issue—the genocide—the disease—the epidemic… Pain drives us to do a number of things but one of the best things it can do is bring us to our knees and from our knees point us to action.

Some of the greatest ministries are birthed through pain and when I say ministries I'm not talking about churches- I'm talking about--MINISTRY-service...serving, loving, helping others in the name of and for the sake of Christ. Ministry isn't confined to the four walls where we worship corporately. Real ministry happens after the church scatters. So today, I want to encourage those who are hurting-please know that God can reveal the purpose in the pain-in your pain. Don't allow yourself to become distraught or feel defeated because of your current place of suffering. God can work EVEN THROUGH THIS PAIN to bring glory to Himself through YOUR STORY. So instead of hating the painful parts of the journey, try to trust that somewhere down the line there's purpose in it.   What is God trying to birth through YOUR pain??

"God never allows pain without a purpose in the lives of His children. He never allows Satan, nor circumstances, nor any ill-intending person to afflict us unless He uses that affliction for our good. God never wastes pain. He always causes it to work together for our ultimate good, the good of conforming us more to the likeness of His Son" ~ Jerry Bridges

Romans 8:28-29 NLT "And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn[b] among many brothers and sisters."
